For an incredible 16 years, from 1943 to 1959, he wore the Barrow Raiders badge with pride as their star stand-off. He was scoring points left and right, notching 132 tries and an impressive 802 goals for a career total topping 2,000 points! The cheers would erupt, shaking the very foundations of the stadium as he slotted another goal between the posts, the crowd a chorus of “Willie! But Horne’s talent wasn’t confined to Barrow. This rugby mastermind, with his sharp mind and strategic brilliance, captained not just his club, but also Great Britain, England, and Lancashire! He donned the Great Britain jersey a total of eight times and played 14 matches for England, a testament to his skill and leadership. His phenomenal achievements were finally cemented in 2014 with his induction into the prestigious Rugby League Hall of Fame.
