Tools at Furness Whisper

This page is your hub for the bits and pieces that sit behind the site – the things that help you build talks, explore the archive in different ways, and generally have a bit more fun with local history. We’re still adding to it, so treat this as a growing toolbox rather than a finished set.

Work in progress (but usable!)

Everything on this page is live and working, but you may spot the odd rough edge. If something feels awkward, confusing, or you’ve got a bright idea for a new feature, we’d genuinely love to hear it.

Presentation Tools

The Presentation Tools let you build a slideshow directly from the Nowstalgia archive. Choose photos, add text‑only slides, write on‑screen notes, and create click‑through text steps – then run everything full‑screen for a talk, with your private notes in a separate window so only you can see them.

  • Pick photos from the archive and add them to your deck.
  • Add notes that appear on the slide, plus separate speaker notes just for you.
  • Use text steps to reveal extra points one click at a time during your talk.
  • Save to file / load from file so you can keep and reuse your decks.

What’s coming next?

Over time this page will collect more tools – small utilities for researchers, map explorers, teachers, and anyone else who loves poking around in Furness history. For now, the Presentation Tools are the main attraction, but they won’t be the last.
